A place for devotion. A world of discovery.

Krishna Leela is conceived as a place where devotion and discovery can share the same setting. A temple sits at its heart, with learning, art, hospitality and community life extending the experience around it.

The proposal takes its name from the idea of Leela: a playful, joyful way of engaging with life. That spirit informs a campus where stories can be encountered through performance, visual interpretation, reading and shared experiences.

The project brief describes a 150-acre vision along the Ahmedabad–Mumbai highway. Its wider programme brings together a temple, museum, Vedic learning spaces, gardens, accommodation and places for meditation. The campus remains a development vision, with the programme intended to grow around its spiritual centre.

The experience

Let people encounter the stories in different ways.

Some visitors will come for prayer. Others may be drawn by music, performance, art or an interest in the teachings. The campus is intended to make room for those different starting points.

The proposed programme includes a museum, visual interpretations of scripture and spaces for performance. Technology is considered as a means of helping people engage with the stories, while the cultural and spiritual substance remains central.

A place to stay

Time changes the nature of a visit.

A cultural destination becomes different when people can stay long enough to settle into it. The wider brief includes accommodation, an Ayurveda-oriented village, food, learning and programmes for different age groups.

These elements are intended to support a fuller visit: time for worship, a class, a walk, a conversation or a period of quiet. Their final scale and delivery will follow the development of the project.

The long view

Culture that can be experienced, shared and carried forward.

Krishna Leela connects an enduring tradition with questions of contemporary presentation. How can a young visitor engage? How can a family take part together? How can a large campus preserve moments of intimacy and reflection?

Those questions shape the project’s direction. The ambition is a meaningful public and spiritual place whose value continues through the communities who use it.
